Okay, I must be up early for dental work (whee?).
whenever i see these post-apocalyptic films set in the USA where everyone is pretty much just killing each other with no mention of other nations i always just assume that the rest of the world is fine and has learnt how to resume life as normal
Q:15, 21, 40, 59 for Fia
15: What makes your OC angry?
Intentional cruelty. People hurting each other or animals for fun. What happened to Shannon when he was captured? That made her see utter red. If she had been there when it was happening she would have changed into dragon form and put a very quick and violent stop to it, consequences be damned.
21: Who is your OCs best friend?
She…doesn’t really have one? I mean, Shannon I guess. But up until then, she tended to live a pretty solitary life, never letting anyone close. If she was able to see her nest mates for more than a few days a century, one of them would be, of course. But the dragons have all grown apart since they went into hiding. Shannon’s the first person she’s really been able to be herself with and be able to be around for a long period of time in centuries.
40: What is the craziest thing your OC has done?
Well, if you ask her, she would probably say buying that amulet and then giving into the urge to examine it before she got it safely back home.
But. Buying her bookstore, I think. It was a bit of an impulse buy. She had been there once or twice the last time she was in that area (about forty years before) and when she was thinking about moving back she popped in for nostalgia’s sake. Overheard the owner say that he was ready to retire and considering taking an offer from someone who wanted to turn it into some lawyer wanting to start a new branch of his firm. Couldn’t bear the thought of it being anything but a bookstore, so she made the owner an offer on the spot, for the store and inventory and everything.
The next day she woke up in a panic because wow she hadn’t even decided on moving back for certain and somehow she had ended up buying her own business—which meant putting down roots. But the panic subsided quickly and she realized she was actually pretty happy with the idea. Figured she could run the store for a long time without anyone getting suspicious about as long as she was careful.
59: What is the first thing that someone would notice about your OC?
Probably her eyes. Like all dragons in human form, they are not *quite* human. They’re close. But a bit too big, a bit too reptilian. Fia does her best to blend in and NOT be noticed out of habit. So when she does attract notice, it’s usually for that.
1:What’s your OCs favorite color?
- He’s fond of blues, especially Payne’s Grey, which is sort of a slate blue color ((that I have a big tube of oil paint that color that’s why I know the specific name))
24:What does your OC smell like? Gunpowder and horses, heh. And whatever earth he’s been sleeping on.
At home he smells like fresh soil and warm peat and fresh-cut greens and honest sweat from gardening.
- 39:Who is your OCs biggest enemy? “France.” No okay but on a personal level it’s a toss-up between the men who captured him and beat him up, or if you want a nontangible enemy, the resentment and distrust and outright hatred of he and his countrymen.
-57:Would you call your OC adventurous? He certainly goes ON adventures, but he doesn’t really seek them out - orders from above and big troop movements and infiltration assignments. He’d probably be up for the Grand Tour but then he’s happiest at home with his parents and his neighbors and his greenhouse.
Oh, thank you!
Heh. I suspect that Fia finds Shannon’s love of gardening very endearing. :)
Wow, that was almost really bad.
Totally forgot I let Bug borrow my phone because she wanted to look at all of the pictures in it (no idea why though).
Reached for my pocket to text Hubby about something. No phone. Sudden feeling of panic trying to set in. It took me longer than it should have to realize where my phone was. >.<
Q:What does Fia's voice sound like? Does she have an accent? Is it Americanized from living in California?
Sorry for the delay in answering this! I think I am finally up to getting something coherent out. :)
Fia’s voice is very low, and deeper than one might expect from looking at her. She tends to try to counter this by speaking softly. She also takes care to enunciate so she is clearly understood.
As much as she’s traveled, she spent the first century of her life in human form in Scotland, and because that’s where she learned to speak as a human, she has been left with a marked Scottish accent. Since that land is still *home* to her, she tends to spend a few decades of every century there anyway, and so it has never really gone away.
She has taken care, however, to make sure that it has evolved properly so that she doesn’t sound like a walking anachronism.
Which has presented a whole new sort of challenge for her as she finds herself in the past again, oops.
fragilespark replied to your post “Hmm. Head is deciding to be floaty even without medication….”
how about some Vega to get you um… back down to earth?
Hmm. He is pretty heavy. Think I could convince him to pin me down? For, um, for my safety, of course. No other reason. :)
Hmm. Head is deciding to be floaty even without medication. Interesting.
Here it is! The official announcement post of the Mass Effect Flash Big Bang!
Why Flash Big Bang? Because it’s gonna be short and sweet, to best accommodate students’ schedules and to keep people from burning out. :)
The Flashiness: Stories need only be 3,500 words! Short fluff piece you’ve always wanted to write? Think Horizon needs to be rewritten? A salarian’s POV on Virmire? Emily Wong’s last moments? Anything you want, as ambitious as you want - so long as you can meet these deadlines.

Hmm. On the one hand, short is SO doable. On the other, will I regret doing this during the same month as a move to the other side of the world?
Oh man, back to back big bangs. I’m game.
Feeling a lot better today. Still a little out of it though (but trying to go without medicine for as long as I can).
This is the ideal time to put together a puzzle with Bug, right?
